I Got My Vaccine and It's None of Your Business
I got the 2nd dose of my vaccine today and I must say that this whole process is a joke. Now let me be clear, I'm not an anti vaxer, or otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten the vaccine. However, I have been very hesitant. First, everyone should be embarrassed by the politicization of the COVID 19 Vaccine. I was hesitant when then President Trump announced "Operation Warp Speed", just like many of the Democrats. So why would I all of a sudden become less hesitant now that Biden is President? Did we all of sudden decide to take our time? Conduct proper research?
Second, the delivery of the vaccine is being conducted in parking lots at Convention Centers, Super Markets, and Stadiums. Only recently did they start offering the vaccine at Drug Stores. What happened to traditional delivery of vaccines at your doctor's office. Perhaps I have a question for my doctor about my family and our medical concerns. Is it silly that I don't want to get my vaccine while I'm tailgating or picking up a gallon of milk?
Finally, I have to say I'm extremely turned off by the peer pressure. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO MY PERSONAL MEDICAL INFORMATION. I'm surprised that the loudest people when it comes to promoting the vaccine are also Pro Choice. If you believe that medical decisions are to be kept private between a women and her doctor than why do you feel it's yours or any one else's business whether or not I get a vaccine. Further, I have not conducted any independent research on the efficacy of the vaccine and neither have you. So it is not my place to pass judgement on anyone who decides to get the vaccine. The truth is none of us know the long term consequences of the vaccine.
So after much internal debate, I decided to get the vaccine. My reason was I wanted to visit my father in New York who has gone through hell this year. I knew there was no way I could comfortably visit New York without the vaccine. Having said that, I also support those of you who decide not to get the vaccine. The good news is the vaccine is available to anyone who wants it so there is no excuse. If you or someone you know doesn't feel safe, get the vaccine and/or wear a mask. That's your choice and it's none of my business.
