Beware of Paper Straws

The Election results sent a clear message or did it? Despite what some people think, Democracy is alive and well in America. The people spoke and here is what they said with their vote.

1. The Economy Stinks! Prices are out of control. We're paying more and getting less. There's no longer a debate. Tariffs are a tax on the American People.

2. The Iran War Must End! We didn't vote for this War and for those of us who agree that Iran should never have a nuclear weapon, the war should have ended once "Iran was obliterated".

3. ICE Is Out of Control! No one wants strange, unidentified, ARMED, masked men roaming our communities and taking our neighbors off the streets. It's disgusting.

4. Be Nice to Our Friends! We're picking on Iceland and Canada? REALLY?! I'm not sure more needs to be said, except what makes matters worse is that we seem to treat Russia and North Korea better then our neighbors to the North.

5. Corruption Must Stop! Many of the people who voted for President Trump sent him to Washington to drain the swamp. Unfortunately the exact opposite has occurred. The corruption has been blatant and thrown in our face.

The Democrats who took control of both the House and Senate should not take this as a mandate unless and until they address the issues above. Although American's voted for you, it was not an endorsement. Far from it. According to NBC News, the Democratic Party's approval rating is just 29%. The people did not vote for the following:

1. Cancel Culture! Freedom of speech goes both ways. If you stood up for Jimmy Kimmel then you must also stand up for Roseanne Barr. Stop being SHOCKED about everything someone has said 10 years ago. We all say stupid things, get over it.

2. Open Borders! Most Americans want legal immigration. Work with the Administration to secure the borders and have a legal pathway for citizenship. It is possible to be against ICE and for strong borders.

3. Pronouns! Every American regardless of race, religion, and sexual orientation deserves to be treated with respect. HOWEVER, that does not mean that we all have to learn a new language and/or be reprimanded for not using the proper pronoun.

4. Beware of Paper Straws! It makes you look ridiculous. We understand that you want to protect the environment, but when you hand me a smoothie in a plastic cup with a paper straw, we all think you're stupid. You're not saving the environment, you're just being annoying.

Finally, work together. You work for the American people. For example, reducing the cost of gas will require an increase of supply and a reduction of demand (Economics 101). This may mean more drilling and tax credits to incentivize the purchase of electric vehicles. You might want to approve funding for the border wall and require ICE agents to remove masks and carry IDs. There are solutions to the problems American's are facing provided that each party focuses on their real boss, America!
